Experience counts when disaster strikes

Whenever a severe weather event arrives, the importance of an experienced asset manager cannot be discounted.

In the lead-up to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred – at the time, a Category 2 cyclone in the Coral Sea – Southeast Queenslanders were uncertain of the scale and destruction the weather event was going to bring. The last cyclone to come to Brisbane was more than 50 years ago and memories dim over time.

At Bromley, we are fortunate to have a wealth of experience in our asset management division. The relationships our asset managers have with landlords and tenants alike came to the fore.

Our asset managers are experts in risk assessment, insurance coordination and disaster preparedness.

As soon as the Bureau of Meteorology released tracking which showed the system would cross Southeast Queensland, Bromley’s team activated our crisis response strategy, arming tenants and landlords with necessary information and contacts.

But even before the cyclone – which was downgraded to a tropical low when it hit landfall – crossed Moreton Bay, our maintenance schedules, knowledge of insurance and compliance with evolving building codes, connections with tradespeople ensured landlords and tenants were well-positioned to withstand the heavy winds and rain.

And for those that were affected by power outages and inundation, we moved swiftly to coordinate repairs, liaise with insurers and communicate with tenants.

Experience counts for a lot when disaster strikes. When you have an experienced asset manager, you have the peace of mind knowing your asset is protected, tenancies are secure, and long-term investment value is safeguarded.
